It is galling when you search for a problem on the internet and all you can find is one unanswered post from years ago.

I think the problem is low water, but I could be wrong. there is at least half a metre of head above the filter which I have cleaned, so I think it must be the sensor. Must be open circuit, I will unplug, clean and reassemble, then report back.

    John,

In the absence of any help I used lung power to check the tubes and realised there was a lot of resistance.  I went back to basics and took apart, cleaned everything up and reassembled.  The problem cleared and so I think the error may have indicated a blockage or something.

Anyway, good luck with your system.

Much the same, I blew through, then blocking the non-return valve and injecting water managed to get a siphon working (my greenhouse is below the level in the water butt). No change.

I unplugged the level sensor and cleaned both probes, upon replugging it all burst to life. Unfortunately the retaining screw collar is now at the bottom of a full water butt.

So, in my case the problem was the controller thinking there was no water rather than a blockage, the symptoms are the same.
